Volunteer

NY NICA is a volunteer-based organization that can always need a little more help.

We rely on a dedicated group of volunteers to make our races happen. We value all those who give of their time and energy to help our student-athletes succeed. There’s many ways to volunteer for the New York Cycling League. If you want to be a part of this exciting opportunity, scroll through to see what will be the best fit for you!

1: Volunteer at our races

Did you know, that in order to successfully put on a race, we need 240 volunteers between setup day and race day? Volunteering at our races is a fun, low commitment, and rewarding way to get involved and to cheer on the student-athletes! Saturday and Sunday positions are available.

Ready to help? Review NICA’s Race Volunteer Guidelines, then browse the upcoming schedule for opportunities in your area.

2: Join a committee

The League has several important committees for those that want to contribute their time and professional skills. League events, community outreach, and media exposure are important aspects to the success of the League. We need your energetic spirit!

3: Volunteer for your local team!

95% of all student-athlete interaction happens at practices, while 5% happens at races. Volunteering at the team level will allow you to truly make a positive impact.

One way you can volunteer for your team is to be a coach. To learn more, check out our coach licensing page, but first click the button below to get in touch with a team in your area!

Another way to volunteer, without being a head coach, is to be a ride leader for the team. This gives you the ability to lead a group, or ride with a group on the team.

Teams also need support and help on the administrative level, and on race days. This includes, but is not limited to: Registration support, team parties, race weekend food prep, etc. Contact your local teams head coach to see how you can help in this area.
