2026 New York League Expansion and Fall Transition

Thanks to the incredible dedication of our coaches, families, and student-athletes, the New York Interscholastic Cycling League has reached a new milestone: we’ve expanded into two conferences. This exciting step will allow us to introduce Long Island families to NICA. The new Long Island Conference will operate in a fall season beginning in 2026. The North Conference, encompassing all other geographical regions of NY, will continue to operate in a spring season in 2026.

In 2027, the North Conference will hold a unique season that straddles both spring and fall, and the Long Island Conference will continue to run in the fall. In 2028 and beyond, all of NY NICA (both Conferences) will only operate in the fall.

As we prepare to expand into two conferences and transition to a fall league, we’ve put together answers to some of the most common questions about how this change will work. We’ll continue to update as more details are finalized.
